Shelly RuggianoPilates Instructor
Shelly, CORE’s original administrative coordinator, completed her Comprehensive Power Pilates Certification program in September 2008.
She has a background in dance and in aerobic/personal training. She began dancing at the age of four and attended college with the goal of majoring in Dance. While in her freshman year she experienced a total knee injury that began 20 years of knee surgeries/rehabilitation. Her focus switched to aerobic/weight training and while living in San Diego from 1985-1994 became involved in ACE and instructing low-impact/weight training -- with an emphasis in pre- and post-natal clientele.
Shelly found Pilates during her search for an exercise program that could sustain her for life. She sought a method that involved the total body and mind, that she could study and grow with, and that offered her the ability to succeed given her physical challenges. Her special interests in teaching are with pre-post natal, knee/hip injury rehabilitation and teen wellness. She is married and has one son and one daughter.
